Our Story
The Bossy Ricketts Family began Asher’s Angel Foundation (AAF) after experiencing the loss of their son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and brother, Asher Bossy Ricketts (09/29/2019-11/23/2019). Asher had a brief but extraordinary life. He had a radiant presence that was felt by everyone around him. People were often struck by his fighting spirit, a quality which earned him the nickname of “Rockstar” by the nurses in the NICU.
When Asher passed away in 2019, his family was initiated into a profound grieving process. Through their shared loss, the Bossy Ricketts sought solace in gathering together. They found that their grief was much more manageable when they shared with each other, rather than doing it alone. In seeking healing modalities, each family member found a unique path that they then brought back to the others. They found support through therapy, community rituals, arts and crafts, acts of service, and more. They realized that healing is multifaceted, dynamic, and holistic. Asher’s Angel Foundation seeks to offer this integrative approach to the community, and support individuals to find their own unique path on their healing journey.
